Somatostatin receptors are members of the Rhodopsin family of GPCRs, and comprise five receptor subtypes (SSTR1-SSTR5). The predominant subtypes expressed throughout the pituitary are SSTR2 and SSTR5, with SST1 and SST3 expressed at lower levels.
