GPCR19 (G protein-coupled receptor 19, GPBAR1) is a protein encoded by the GPBAR1 gene in humans. The gene encodes a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily. GPCR19 acts as a cell-surface receptor for bile acids. Bile acid treatment of cells expressing this GPCR induces intracellular cAMP production, activation of MAP kinase signaling pathways, and internalization of receptors. The receptor is involved in inhibiting macrophage function and regulating energy homeostasis by bile acids.
