Description
Doxycycline Hyclate is the hyclate salt form of a synthetic, broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic exhibiting antimicrobial activity. It is an antimicrobial tetracycline that acts as an inhibitor of a wide range of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) of MMP-1 and MMP-8. Doxycycline hyclate binds reversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit, possibly to the 50S ribosomal subunit as well, thereby blocking the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex. This leads to an inhibition of protein synthesis.

How to use
In Vitro:
Doxycycline (hyclate) (Doxycycline hydrochloride hemiethanolate hemihydrate) affects growth of glioma cells only under high concentrations. Doxycycline (hyclate) decreases MT-CO1 protein content with concentrations of 1 µg/mL and higher in SVG cells. Doxycycline (1 µg/mL) induce short-hairpin RNA (shRNA) expression in H23 cells.
In Vivo:
Doxycycline (hyclate) (Doxycycline hydrochloride hemiethanolate hemihydrate) (oral; 200 or 800 mg/kg/day; for 3 months) reduces active MMP-9 in untreated HT mice in a dose-dependent manner.
